7th preview review of the Gear-Report.com AR rifle platform trigger test series (full review link). The WMD Guns NiB-X trigger group upgrade (Brownell’s link) for AR platform rifles (AR-15, AR-10) including packaging, instructions, components, first impressions, and expectations for field testing.

The WMD Guns NiB-X trigger group (Brownell’s) is basically, a “mil-spec” style fire control group that has been Nickle Boron (NiB-X) coated. Aside from the uncoated “mil spec” trigger that is in this test as the control reference, the WMD Guns NiB-X trigger group is the least expensive of the bunch.

1st impressions

  • Stock trigger group with NiB-X coating.
  • I’m ready to torture test this bad boy! -Jason
  • Everything on this lower is NiB-X coated and looks awesome, they really out did themselves with this lower assembly.  Appropriately named the “BEAST” it looks like it will take everything we’re fixing to throw at it.

*Interestingly, I mentioned to Dan, the head gunsmith at WMD Guns that we were impressed with how the lower and FCG looked. However, this is not going to be a safe queen or display piece. We are going to work all of the lowers in this test, and work them hard. Dan effectively said “Bring it!” He has a lot of confidence in their NiB-X coating and what it does to enhance durability.
Gotta say, I like that attitude!
