WMD Guns – “RANGE/DUTY READY” ALL ENVIRONMENT PATROL RIFLE – Range Test Video Review

WMD Guns - “RANGE/DUTY READY” ALL ENVIRONMENT PATROL RIFLE range test rifle on tableGear-Report.com Editor, Jeff, visited WMD Guns at their local shooting range in Florida for a first look and some range time with the new “RANGE/DUTY READY” ALL ENVIRONMENT PATROL RIFLE.

Honestly, I went into this thinking this was just another “budget black rifle”.
Boy, was I wrong!

OWMD Gunsdd name for a rifle

The “All Environment Patrol Rifle” is so named because all of the internal and external rifle components are coated with the best coating options from the wide range of high-tech coatings that WMD offers. The engineered coatings provide far more corrosion resistance, durability and natural lubricity than the generic coatings you find on standard ARs. There is no old-school anodizing on this rifle.

On the range I found that the rifle was reliable, had a nice trigger, and managed recoil well… for a carbine length system.
Although, I think a carbine length gas system is appropriate for a hard use, duty rifle like this that needs to run reliably on any factory ammo.

I should not be surprised at the performance of this rifle, as I have owned a WMD Guns Big Best AR10 for a couple of years and have seen first hand the attention to detail and benefits of their high tech coatings.

Would I own one?

If I were picking an AR that my life might depend on, I would definitely give this highly engineered duty rifle serious consideration. While WMD Guns rifles aren’t “cheap”, if this exact rifle were stamped with a more well known brand name I suspect it could sell for around twice what WMD sells them for. In my experience, WMD makes very reliable guns. Their high tech coatings are rumored to allow an AR to run for tens of thousands of rounds without oil. This makes the rifle a great candidate for a serious survival rifle, IMHO.

Would you like to see a more in-depth review of this rifle? If so, let us know in the comments. I didn’t have time to run this rifle through our standard battery of tests in my brief visit to the range in Florida. If there is enough interest, then I’ll reach out to WMD to arrange a demo gun for review. You can also checkout WMD Guns website for more details and current pricing.
