It is true… I did a happy dance at the ThermaCell booth at SHOT Show 2016.
To understand why, you must know something about the prior version of this product.
The OLD version:
I have delayed in publishing the review of the ThermaCell Camp Lantern because I love the concept, but hate that it requires D-cell batteries.
I don’t keep D-Cells around the house or office and am loathed to buy any since I have moved exclusively to rechargeable batteries, mostly of the AA variety.
However, I LOVE my ThermaCell mosquito repellent appliance and use it while hunting, camping, and even around my yard at home when the bugs are out.
I have taken the old ThermaCell Camp Lantern out with no batteries and used only the mosquito repellent portion. That bugs me (pun sort of intended), as 1/2 of the functionality of the device is useless to me.
The NEW version – Thermacell Repellent Scout Camp Lantern
So, when Adam showed me the new, smaller Thermacell Repellent Scout Camp Lantern the first thing I noticed was that it wasn’t big enough to run on those monstrous D-cell batteries! The new Thermacell Repellent Scout Camp Lantern is reported to run for 40 hours on a set of 4 AA batteries… hence the Happy Dance.
You will want to watch the video for more details and to learn about the new ThermaCell Max Life insect repellant Mat as well.
