Look Ma, No Batteries!
After getting frustrated with an electronic hearing protection headset that burns through batteries at an alarming rate I opted to try a set of Otis Technology Ear Shield Hearing Protection at the shooting range. I didn’t know what to expect from the passive headset. Check out the video below to see how the Otis Technology Ear Shield performed.

At about $20 per pair, Otis Technology Ear Shield Hearing Protection surprised me in how well it blocked damaging gunshot noise, while still allowing me to hear much of the ambient sounds around the range. It is rather important to me, for safety reasons, to be able to hear the people around me. While a bit muffled, I was able to understand speech better than with typical passive headsets or ear plugs.
Comfort for the first hour was very good. After that the Otis Technology Ear Shield Hearing Protection got a bit uncomfortable as the hours passed. I really appreciated that the Otis Technology Ear Shield does not interfere with the cheek weld while shooting rifles.

Otis Technology Ear Shield Hearing Protection is no match to a cheap set of digital enhanced hearing protection. However, for the price, they are an effective option that presents a good value
