January 2016 update:

***We finally got to the range to shoot the CBRPS.com MNAR Bullpup and we were all smiles.
To be completely honest, I was expecting the little M44 carbine to kick like a pissed-off mule. With no muzzle brake and a rigid butt plate at the rear of the stock, the prospect of leaving with a severely bruised shoulder was very real. However, I am VERY pleased to report that felt recoil was a non-issue.
I also questioned how it would feel cycling the bolt over my shoulder. Only did it a few times, but so far it felt rather natural.
Even though I had high expectations for the fit, finish and function of the CBRPS.com MNAR conversion kit, it performed better than expected.
Since first posting this preview a TON of people told me that a Mosin bullpup was stupid (their word,

not mine)… what is the point… you are ruining a classic… and similar negative comments (some more rude than others). I had some doubts myself, never having shot a bolt action bullpup before.

While we aren’t remotely done with our testing regime for the MNAR kit from CBRPS.com, I can honestly say that the balance and feel of the MNAR Mosin Bullpup was fantastic. I need to take it apart and adjust the trigger rod slightly, but even with it a bit loose on the trigger it still improved leverage to make one of the crappiest triggers I know of (the stock Mosin Nagant trigger) feel WAY better.

And I need to find a muzzle brake that fits on an M44 with the sight base removed. Leave a comment if you know who makes one.***

What do you think?

Here is a sneak peek of the third in our Mosin Modernization Project series, the CBRPS.com MNAR conversion kit.
We started with the most beat up, nasty looking, bargain bin M44 Mosin Nagant I could find, and converted it to a bullpup in about 20 minutes with no permanent modifications and simple tools using the MNAR kit from CBRPS.com. The kit isn’t cheap, so the expectations are pretty high for how it will transform the Mosin from a long

rifle to a better balanced, more handy bullpup with a MUCH more modern look and feel.

What should we add to this build? Let us know in the comments.

  • What optic or sights?
  • What bipod?
  • Who makes a muzzle brake for the M44 with the sight base sleeve removed?

Review coming… after we have shot it a bunch.
