How to hang your hammock at the correct angle

Illustration with directions to determine the ideal angle to hang your hammock and reduce the stress on the hammock suspension and hammock fabric.

The first DIY hammock that I made ripped and dropped me on my back. The two most likely reasons are that I used the wrong material (a fashion nylon fabric), and I pulled the ropes WAY too tight when I hung the hammock. If only I had the above illustration to help me understand the right way to hang a camping hammock, maybe my DIY hammock would not have failed.  Follow the directions above to determine the ideal angle to hang your hammock and reduce the stress on the hammock suspension and hammock fabric.

Great info for any hammock camper, hiker, backpacker, scout, or even a backyard hammock enthusiast. [click image to enlarge]
